The terms are twenty-five ber cent first Cash payment—the balance in one, two and three years, bearing only six per cent interest, the land bonds of the company being taken at par in payment. Since these bonds can be purchased at seventy cents it seems to ua that the company are by this latter condition enabling those in want of cheap lands to get them on terms never before offered by & ratlroad corporation. Saturday was an eventful day in ratiroad travel in this vicinity, two serious accidents occurring on the northern routes, one near home and the other in Vermont. The former occurred in the morning to Conauctor Fleming's train from the north over the Connecticut River Raliroad, between Smith’s Ferry ana Holyoke, at the cross track from the stone quarry leading down to the river. While rannin, at full speed the engine was thrown from the trac! by a stone between the cross and main tracks and ploughed along some three rods upon its side, The engineer, Henry H. Snow, of Brattleboro, had his right leg broken in two places and his knee Split open. Amos Mosher, of Mitteneague, the fire- man, was bruised in the back, and Fran« Kingsiey, of South Vernon, forward brakeman, had his left ankle sprained. None of the passengers were in- jured, although the greatest alarm and consterna- uion prevailed among them. A special train, with Drs, Breck and Rice, with mattresses, &c., was im- mediately despatched to the scene of the accident, aud brought the injured persons to this city.
