The red men of Tammany have sent out their whole force on the ‘Warpath. Numerous scouts ahead are guarding against all contingencies as to eurprisals, ambus- cades and attacks from foes without, while tte chiefe of the ring are prepared to suppress with a bigh hand any hostile attempt, from. treach- erous friends within. Dis- sonsious have again entered the “councils of the brave,’ and are likely to ‘hlast them in thelr hovr of might.” Hoffman and his aspirations are the cause of ull the trouble. His motto, “Rule or ruin,’ is likely to end in tne latter, nothwithstand- ing that he has the support of Sweeny, the great Bismarck of the Hoffman dynasty. Besides, what, ever private or personal feeling Bill 'T ed has tor hin—and, contidentialiy speaking, that is not of the most fervid nature—even the ponderous a, throws his whole weight—no tride at that, take it in any sense—for him,and so Sweeny aud Tweed declare tint the whole aw here must go the whole hog for Hof ut up into mincemeat, whieh cism and consequent counting out at the distribution of the spoils, But there ts a goodly array of the opponents of Hoffman, who Inay Object to any such summary proceeding on the part or the chief of the kitchen ring, Congressman jorrissey, Sheriff O’Brien, Senators Genet, Creamer and Norton, Supervisor Hayes, ex-Sherttf Kelly and other centurions of the Tami legions, have taken their stand on Mount Aventine, and say they will there intreach if tleir demand is not complied with, and henee we are threatened with a renewal of the ancient strife of the members against the body. They haye only one condition to ask or demand to —that is, that Hoffman shall not be their stand- ard bearer in the Gubernatorial contest. This they make on behalf of themselves, their constituents— that 1s, the number Of voters they. can bring into the fiejd should it come to an open rupture—and for the fog re be ticket ri ie good hal hd party itself. ey say any attemp! suppress their just rights in this matter and the expression of their opinion on. the question of Hoffinan’s nomination by many legerdemain trick = device of the Perbistopucies of the ring will be the 1 for breaking th Cave and exhuming the me- ta jorical hatchet. These inaicontents favor the Hon mination of Church, or Cassidy, or Mui 7» Of Brook- lyn, for Governor. They assert the ht to present the names and advocate the claims of any of those gentlemen for this high positton upon the bier igh tion of the democracy of New York. If beaten the Convention ‘according to the usages of the party” they are prepared cheerfully to son and will thereafter support the regular nominee in faith and witha will. But they are also pre; pared armed at all points, to resist any attempt at error: ism or any departure from the old oe! of electing delegates to the Convention. On this point they are jealously watching the diplomacy of Peter Bismarck, knowing the trons of resources and expediencies that Peter is blessed withal, and not knowing in what way or direction his astute and subtle mind eid put them into service. There is no fact that among many of the outside leaders Fed among the fugiemen of the eee is bitter and open hostility nomination of Hofman ae, the candidate of the for Governor. gp a oer brought the whole part; overawe the refractory, oF to caaine them Back to thelr alle- giance just as the temper and qualities of the indl- vidual make a threat or a promise the more cogent eapon to use. THE CONGRESSIONAL QUESTION, Here again troubie is brewing. Candidates are repensing themselves thick as leaves in Vallambrosa for the Tammany nomination, Of course they cannot all be accommodated, and of course the soreheads will breathe curses deep if not loud against the sachems and medicine men of the Wigwam. THE FOURTH DISTRICT. In this district, now represented by John Fox, there are several candidates among the unterrified. “Morgy” Jones is again ambitious of Congressional honor. His old constituents are attached to Mr. Jones, and fearful thata too close attention to his Congressional duties might impair his health—a risk which he recklessly subjected himself to once ve- fore—they prefer to keep him at home and provide some good fas, office for him in the city, where he will be under the watchful eyes of his anxious friends. Weare out of sorts, feel dull, have not the proper use of our minds or bodies, We take sixor seven of Brandreth’s: Pills (dose should be governed by bulk of the individual, a person of two hundred pounds weight needing twice as many pills as one of one hundred pounds). ‘What is the effect? The plils occasion three or four stools, whose qualities cloarly prove from whence our bad feelings came. In chronie affections, such as Scrofula, Rhenmatism, Gen- eral Debility, Paralysis, Epilepsy and Heart affections there are always more or less matters’ retained in the body which go to make the cases worse and worse. By using Brandreth’s Pills daily, of nearly so, these accumulations are removed and the powers of nature are healthily stimu- lated, #0 that even the original disease is often perfectly cured, Never bleed, never take any calomel or chemical, andthe health of the weakly and consumptive will constantly tm prove by the occasional use of BRANDRETH'S PILLS. | | | lil | SCROFULA CURED.
