Yesterday Honry Fricks was brought before Commis- sioner Betts on a charge of having in Lis possession aod Attempting to circulate counterfeit two dollar bills of United States currency. On Friday evening last, on tn- formation received, a police officer arrested the prisoner In Norfolk street, and on taking him to the Tenth pre- sinct station a search of bis person was made, and somo- body present said, ‘he has the bilis in his mouth,” The oilicer then seized bim, and, to use his own words, be ‘took him by the throat and choked him.” Under this operation Fricks was compeiled to disgorge, and forthwith four counterfeit bills of two dollars each camo to tight, but the dfth he swallowed. Aaron Samueis, sworn—I live at 73 Suffolk street; on the morning of November 16 | was at @ surprise pai the Bowery; I was in the street and saw @ big mali at the entrance of 218 Bowery, who was knocking at tho door and said he wented his collar; he then went round to the Rivington street entrance, two short young men camie out, and the barkeepor followed thom; | saw tho big man sinke deceased; after that one of the two men who bad co: out took decoased, and said, ‘Now, Johnny, you bad better go down;” [then saw him pusi decased down tho steps and fire a Pistol at him as be was descending; the man then ran up to Chrystie street; deceased came ‘up to the sidewalk again and fell down; when the officer came up with the big man I told bim thas 1% was a litle mao who had fired the pistol. 2 policeman then ran over and arrested him; when he brought bim back I recognized him as Frank McCoy; Sarausia camo up and to the officer, “That is not the men;’” I told Samuels tho officer had the right man, but tho officer ‘et nim Hermaun Wansolow, bartender to Mra, Hartiiog, ga testimony similar to that already given by Aira, Hart- Neff aad Josephine Loson. Michael Kellerd, @ police officer attached to the Tenth precinct, testified as to the arrest of McCoy, and to bis subsequently releasing him in consequence of all t. people around saying that he had got the wroug man ;¥) knew MoCcy was a men of character, but did bot know at the time he arrested the man that it was McCoy, as he had never met him personally oefore. Dr, Washburn testified that the deceased had been in the New York Hospital soe the 16th of November, and 1 had died on the Ist of December at nine A. M.; the cause of death tn bis opinion was # pistol shot wound in the right side, After a few minutes’ deliberation the jury rendered the following verdict:—'hat the deceased came to his death from a pistol shot wound at the bands of Frauk MoCoy on the morning of November 16, 1867. INTERVAL REVENUE MATTERS. Owing to the continued absonce of Deputy Commis- sionor Parnell, who hag not yet returned from Maasa- chusetts, thore was no meeting of the Metropolitan Rev- enue Board yesterday. Br, Parnell Is expected to arsive this moraing, however, and it ie probable a meeting will be orgavized to-day.
