The genuine note was engraved by a much more elaborate process than the forged ones, Jacob Perkins Bacon deposed that bis firm engraved the notes of the Union Bank, and that the forgeries showed many points of difforence. Continued War Preparations in New York. Large amounts of arms and munitions of war are at the present time being manufactured rapidly in New York, and although various quarters, such as Nebraska Territory and San Francisco, are suggested as their des- tination, still a very conclusive opinion may be formed on the point from recent Fenian proceedings. At the armory of Mossrs, Starr, corner of Bedford and Houston streets, men are now working both day and night in the manufacture of small arms. Old Enfield ritles imported from Knugiand and springfield muskets are being converted and transferred into eflective weapons, while many ship guns of heavy calibre are likewise turned. ‘Three days ago tho Messrs.
