May 13-0 PM ‘The railway share market was uvurvally dull this morning, but in the afternoon it became wore active and wather buoyant. The tameness of the speculative feel- fing im the face of the prevailing abundance of money at Anis contre is a source of surprise 10 many, and there is & growing disposition to buy among outside investors as BOON as it becomes clear tbat the market Ras escaped from the control of the bears, who have ruled it for tne Jest half year aud more. Of tate the mar- ket has been remarkable only for its inde wiive movemente, # comsequence of the bears Being as much afraid sell as the bulls are to buy ; bat this hesitation cannot last much longer, and the indications are that when a decided change does take place it will be im faor of higher prices. The prospect of abundant crops, snd the probability that no fuariber contraction of the currency will take place for ap indefinite Jength of time to come, inspire a better feeling in Wail street, as well a8 in all departments of trade. The supply of money is largely in excess of she de- mand, and loans are made freely to stock houses im good evedit at five per cent, with exceptions at four and six per cent, while first class commercial paper, of which there is a very moderate supply, is in demand at from ats Ww seven, The statement of the associated banks reflects the easy condition of monetary affairs bere, ‘Tho deposits show an increase ef $4,613,760, which is partly explained by the ache of $5,057,413 in specie, the latter being due to the disbursement of the semi- ‘apnoal interest on the five-twenty loan. The loans have imcreased $2,805,271, mainly owing to purchases ef government securities by the banke for the wake of employing idle tal, and the legal ‘ender notes have decreased 590,639, by payments mito the Sub-Treasury..
