The following is Dr. Harris? weekly letter on the ‘@eaths in this city and Brooklyn for the week ending Satarday the 27th ult, :— Mrrrorolrtan Boarp or HRALTH, Buneav or Virat Sramistica, April 30, 1867, :In the week ending April 27 there were 405 deaths in New York, including 73 in public institutions, 50 of them being in the island hospitals, There were 105 deaths 1 yn, exclusive of the Kings county in- ctitutions, This mortality is equivalent to a yearly death rate of 25.41 per 1,000 living in New York, and of 20.54 per 1,000 in Brooklyn by census of 1865, Zymotic causes destroyed 105 lives in New York and institutions, amd 22 in Brooklyn; or, 25.90 per cent of ail who died in the former, and 18.80 per cent of all | deaths in the latter city. There perisied in the first | year of infancy 120 in New York, or 29.62 per cent of | gan tho dead from all causes, and 35 in Brooklyn, or 29.91 of the total list. Thoro were 206 deatbs of children under five years of age in New York, or 50.86 per cent of all the dead, and 52 or 44.44 per ceut in Brooklyn.
