SPECIAL CORRESPONDENCE OF THE HERALO. Vast Increase of the Emigrant Tide to the United States. Qugexstown, April 18—Evening. The'tide of emigration from this port still increases since Monday last, the 15th instant, on which day the steamships Minnesota, City of Cork and Melita sailed from here crowded with emigrants, Upwards of 1,200 people have taken their departare for New York in the steamships Concordia, of the Warren line; Malta, of the Cunard line; Denmark, of the National line; and the City of Washington, of the Inman line; and still there are nearly 700 awaiting embarkation. According to government return 1,500 emigrants em- bark weekly from here, but this was prior to the Fenian risings. Decreasing Population in Ireland. It from the return of the Registrar General of Irel: that the number of births regigtered during the th months ending the 3lst of last December was 33,753. The deaths forthe same period were 22,260, while by emigration the population was lessened by 12,894, “A decrease of 1,401 would seem to have taken place in the population during the period specified.
