JeRP, DAVIS does not get moved into Carroll Hall yet, although there is no doubt that a room for his intended accommodation hag been fitted up in this building. The casemate he has been occupying would not be unheakhy for many, but it is pronounced too damp for one of his temperament, age and lack of robust strength aud vitality to resist disease, and hence, the advised change in his quarters by his medical attendants, His health has not suffered materi- ally thus far, but it is feared it may when the equinoctial storm, now nearly due, pay its approaching semi-annual visitation of prolonged rain and dampness. It will be seen, at all events, that the government is careful on the score of the health of Jeff. Clay and Mitchel are both weil, an: as to their trial there is the same governmental reticence and outside conjecture, founded wholly in ignorance. ‘There is thia rumor, however, as to Clay and Mitchel, that they will soon be allowed the privilege of the fortress grounds to walk in at all times of the 9 day, unat- tended by any guard.
