There was also good deacon Jobn Cutter, of Winchendon, standing upon a rock below observing the aiticulty and humanity of the task, who, off with bis at, and although probably between sixty and seventy years of age, came right up the rocks and offered to take his turn where danger and death stared them in ‘the face. Two persons chose sides, the design being to have twenty marksmen on each side; but two on one side failed to come to time. At seven A. M. thirty-eight of the best shots in Manchester and vicinity started in pursuit of game, doing their best till eleven o'clock, when they all met, with their families, for a picnie din: mer in a grove five miles west of Manchester. They pcr) about two hundred chiokane, and, with other dainties, made out a superb repast. At halt. past three P. On counting the chickens it was found that eight ‘hundred and fifty-seven had been slain, and the party numbering twenty men was Binefeen chickens ahead of the eighteen men. Game ‘was comparatively scarce, and some of the best marks- men had poor luck in finding coveys. Dr. Cox, one of the shots in Delaware county, fired twenty-three times and killed his bird every time. Tom Bunt, another splendid shot, missed only once in fifty-three shots, kill- fing fifty-two birds. Last year, when game was more abundant, he brought down upwards of one bundred. The highest number killed this year by any one person ‘was fifty-seven, the next highest fifty-five. MARRIAGES AND DEATHS Married. Bau—Soiuvay.—At Newark, N.
