A stabbing affray occurred in Kelly's porter honse, corner of Tenth avenue and Forty-second street, on Wed- pesday night, during which Bartly Brady, the bar- tender, was stabbed in sixteen different places witha koife in the hands of Bernard Caulfield. It appears that Brady, Caulfield, one James Mooney and others had been to Staten Island on an excursion, and on returning be- came involved in a quarrel in the lower part of the city. At that time, however, none of them were seriously in- Jured: but subsequently the excursionists procecded to Felly’s geo | plece, whore the fight was renewod, and the knife u on Brady, ‘as stated above. Mooney also assaulted Brady after the latter had been stabbed, and seemed to urge Caulfield (o commit the violence. Officer Van Gileon, of the Twenty-second precinct, was immediately on the spot and arrested Mooney; Dut Caulfield slipped out of a rear door and managed to eecape. Captain Slott caused diligent search to be made for tho ttre, and at three o'clock [ener morning Caulfield was discovered smoking a pipe on roof of his brother’s house, in Forty-third street, osu Fleventh avenue, and arrested by officer Smith, Coroner Rarney was subsequently called to take the ante. mortem deposition of Brady, when the facts as stated above were developed. The jury found that Brady “oame to bis ic. Juries at the hands of Beroard Cauldcla. Further, we find James Mooney @n accessory before the fect.”” Both the prisoners were then committed to await the result of Brady's injuries.
