8 THE LATE CITY TROUGLES, | Damages Against the City. TWO HUNDRED AND KIGHTY-FOUR NEW CLAIMANTS. ‘The Comptroiler’s office was ifterally besieged yester- @ay by applicauts for reimbursement on account of da- mages alleged to bave been sustained during the week of | rioting, Two hundred and eighty-four claims, in additien | to those published im the Henap already, were present- ed to Mr. Brennan yesterday, Of this number two hun- dred and fourteen were from colored people , of all copdt- tions, trades and professions, ‘The names of the colored ‘applicants could not be suppited to the reporters yester- @sy, inaemuch a8 they came in after the regular hour of Dusiness. The names and amounts claimed by the other apphoants (seventy in number) are given below. Tt will be voticed'that one of the claimants was a woman who was shot im the leg during one of the fights in the vicinity of the Second avenue. For the injuries she thus sustained she now demands one hnndred dollars, twenty- five of which are for expenses mourred by employing modtoul assistance. There bo peer a few other claims of @ similar nature presented to the Comptroller, and qouch curiosity seems to be felt as to whether nor damage cau be recovered vader such circumstances.
