Important military Movements are in progress, the na ture of which it would be improper to indicate, but which manifest the purpose of tho government to follow up vigorously our receat military successes and prosa the ro- delfion to the wall. The policy of scattering the forces Over a great extent of country, and holdiig and garrison- ing places of no great importanre in a m\itary point of view, which has so greatly retarded the work of euppresa- ing the rebellion hitherto, appears to be abandoned, and the policy so long advocated by the Haran adopted Instead. UNION OFFIOBRS CONDEMNED TO DEATH IN RICHMOND.” ‘There is not much probability that the rebel authorities will carry out the execution of the two officers recently selected by lot for that fate at Richmond, in retaliation for the two rebel recruiting ofMcers and spies executed by General Burnside in Obi, The large number of rebel officers of high rank now in our hands, and the fact that notice has been given that sreh execution would be re- taliated severely, will doubtless cause them to suspend the execution, and finally abandon their purpose, rather than inaugurate a policy which must lead to much un- necessary blordsbed and brutality, totally at variance | with all recognized usages of modern warfare, CONDITION OF GENRRAL SICKLRS. General Thos. Francis Meagher, James T. Brady, Dantet Devlin and Natbapiel Jarvis, of New-York, arrived hero today.
