AT NSW OKLRANS—DEATH OF TEKDT, COMMANDER CUMMINGS. On Sunday the little steamer Reliance ran alongside the Richmond, in order to take such of the officers and crew of the Mississippi as bad been saved to New Orleans, to report to Commodore Morris, In consequence of a heavy vain, lasting all night, however, we did not leave till yes- terday morning, when we called into Baton Rouge, on our way down, where we were transferred to the Iber- ville. Lieut. Commander Cummings, and one of the wounded marines, whose hand had been emputated at the knuckles, aud who had been removed to the Reliance, ARRIVAL were also transferred to the Iberville. Their removal was done with all possible tenderness. We arrived here jate Jast night, but did not yet on shore till this morning. ,Poor Cummings bax since died. Ho was takon ashore to the St. James Hospi- tal, where he breathed his last shortly after his admittance, His faneral wil) take place from Christ church to-morrow morning.
