Colonel Fabrega, with the family of Governor Guardia, bis own family and the government officersy @bandoned Santiago de Verngnas, and embarked at the port of Montijo for Central America. It is stated that he gave orders to his soldiers to sack the city and then burn it, Immediately after his departure his own soldiers sacked a great many houses and the churchos, but the @itizens resisted and prevented the burning of the town. On the 24th there was a public meeting for self-defences @nd they clected Sonor Guevarra prefect, who imme- Giately sent for the troops of the provisional government (Governor Diaz's), and requested them to take possession and protect the inlabitams and their property. Colonel Neiva entered Santiago on the 25th without firing a gun, end took possession of the town. He is now engaged in arresting and disarming the soldiers of Guardia, The provisional government has at last published the ooreos of Gen. Mosquera concerning the church property ‘end the clergy.
