Some money brokers report more ease in the monty market to-day; we fo not, however, find any considerable amounts -effering below yester- day's quotations. Money is worth six per cent on call and for the best short paper; very excellent paper can he had at coven The hanke oro nat lending below six per cent, and some of the more prudently managed institutions are not filling up their discount line even at this figure. After the holiday the eight or ten millions disbursed in divi- dends and interest this month will seek employ- ment, and, in the absence of any active speculation in merchandise or stocks, will probably be placed in the market on temporary loan, which will have the effect of causing rates to decline to where they were ten days ago. A fair business has heen done in fereign exchange to-day. The asking rates at the bankers’ for bills on London continue to be 1093 a }; Messrs. Brown Brothers sold freely at the latter figure, France range from 5.13, to 13g. The shipment of specie in to-morrow's steamer frem this port—the Asia— will be small; it may not azzount to over $200,000. On Saturday the Kangaroo and the ®remen will probably take out the usual heavy shipment. The stock market was irregular at the opening this morning, but gained strength as the day pro- gressed, and was generally higher after the board. The heaviest business, as usual, isin the Western stocks aud bonds. Galena, Roek Island, CKeago, Burlington and Quincy, Toledo asd Tiinois Central | were all wanted to-day at the best prices of yester- | day; the Michigan stocks were firm, the issues ofthe | ‘Routhern being in lively request. New York Centzal advanced a fraction; Hudson River fell off. The pre- sont month is usually one of great torpor on the Stock Exchange; it is not likely that July, 1860, will prove an exception to the rule, thongh the gradual harsesting of the crops leads daily to small orders to boy Western stocks on speculation.
