NEW YORK es WEDNESDAY, JUNE 20, 1860 FINANCIAL AND COMMERCIAL. Tvusspay, June 19—6 P. M. ‘The following is a comparative statement of the exports (exclusive of specie) from New York to foreign ports for the week and since January 1: Bor the week.......+ $1,368,472 1,546,119 2,339,968 Previously reported,. 28,602,250 28, 501,478 ae 6 ‘Since January 1.. 880, 060,722 722 30,047 597 20,574 ‘There is no change to report in the money market. Duiness is the prevailing feature, though yester- @ay’s bank statement is regarded as generally favorable. A moderate business has been done in foreign exchange for to-morrow’s steamer. The asking vates at the leading bankers are 1093 for sterling @0 day bills, and 1103 a 4 for short sight; for francs, 6.19} for 60 day bills, and 5.10j for short wight. The steamer which sails to-morrow will take out about $200,000 in specie. Against this the De Soto, which arrived to-day from New Orleans, brought $300,000 4m Mexican dollars. The banks are again drawing money from the Sub-Treasury. The payments to- @ay were $356,548; receipts, $196,471; balance this @vening, $6,318,496. ‘The business on the Stock Exchange was larger ‘han usual this morning, and prices closed in the afternoon generally higher than yesterday, after a pretty animated business. The Western sharescon- tinued to be the favorites among speculators; to- @ay the tide was in their favor, and we note, on eomparing to-day’s closing prices with yesterday’s, ‘an advance of j per cent in Michigan Southern, old ‘and new, } in Illinois Central, } in Galena, }in @Meveland and Toledo, and j in Rock Island. The earnings of the Rock Island road for the second week in June show an increase of $5,431 over the same week last year; the announcement of the fact had a tendency to counteract the evil effects of the poor return for the same week on the Galena. Those who look for a very large increase in the ‘Yesinens of the Western roads this summer will be @eappointed. The Western people are too poor to travel, and most of the grain has gone forward. Bat if no accident occurs to the wheat and corn erops, which are now within three to four weeks ef harvest, none of the Western roads have equip- ment enough to do the business that will offer this fell and next spring. Michigan Central was wteady. There was no change in New York Cen- tral or Erie. State stocks and bonds were steady, with a fair business. The market was quiet this afternoon, closing steady at the following quota- tations:—Tenneasee 6's, 92] a 93; Virginia 6's, 93} & J; Missouri 6's, 84f a 3; Canton, 20j a 214; Pacific Mail, 89} aj; New York Central, 81f a7; Erie, 17f aj; Hadson River, 474 a 48; Harlem, 113.4 12; @o. preferred, 38] a 3; Reading, 40} a 3; Michigan Central, 47} a 3; Michigan Southern and Northern Indiana, 134 a j; do. guaranteed, 26; a 27; Panama, 331} 2 132; Mlinois Central, 625 a 4; Galena and Chicago, 61 a 3; Cleveland and Toledo, 29] a 30; Chicago and Rock Island, 68j a 3. ‘The following dividends have been declared:— ‘The Lancaster Mills at Clinton, Mass., $20 a share; the Nashua Manufacturing Company, five per cent; the Salmon Falls (N. H.) Manufacturing Company, three per cent, July 2; the Great Falls Manufactar- ing Company, a semi-annual dividend of five per ent, payable on Monday, July 2, to holders of wtock June 16; the Cocheco Manufacturing Com- pany, a dividend of $26 per share, payable July 2; the Manchester Print Works, a dividend of five per cent, payable on demand. The Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati Rail- road Company have declared a dividend of 4} per ent on the earnings of the six months ending June 30, payable August 1. This is a reduction of a half per cent, the road never before having disbursed to the stockholders less than five per cent, semi-an- mually. The falling off of freight traffic, which was @ve mainly to the damage to the crops along the Vine from frost last season, has been quite marked, and even four per cent, in view of this, would doubtless have been satisfactory to many of the stockholders. The following, ft appears, has been the net annual revenae paid into. the Exchequer since 1843:— ° Rewnwe Revenue. - £52,582 S17 _ £53 210, 444 There « was a surplus of revenue in the years 1843- 4569501 bat in IM47-8 and 1854-569 there was a deficit; the tetal surpluses amounted to £25,703 504, but the total deficits were £40,227,341, and the national debt, which stood at £790,576 ,392 at the end of 1843, amounted to £202,449,256 at the end of 1850. This result is, of course, to be atiriba- ted to the Russian war, which involved an expen- @itare calculated at £40,000,000, although the addi- ‘tion to the debt has now been reduced to £12,000,- 0M. sThe annexed table illustrates the proportiens ‘to the general total borne by the varieus sources of revenue at three different periode:— Property tax “Feet office Did ping 4 ani a tdi tie 112.889 668.454 1,201,536 Diem lannous 65,849 139,166 121 389 Stock Exchange.
