THE METHODIST CONFERENCES, Sixth Day's Proceedings of the New York Methudist Conference—Routine Bust- mese—E lection of Seven of t! te the General Conference. 4 The Conference met at St. Paul's churoh yesterday morning, Bishop Scott presiding. Tn our report of Moncay’s proceedings the names of the Rey. J. B. Wakeley and Rev. Richard Wheatley were confounded. The latter portion of the Rev. Mr. Wakeley’s Gpecoh is attributed, by a typographical error, to Mr. Wheatley, who is a strong ‘‘progreeaive’’ man. The examination of the characters of ministers was continued, which was interrupted by Dr, McCuntock, whe submitted the report of the Commiitee on Education. The various educational institations connected with the charch were enumerated, namely:—Wesleyan University, the ‘Troy University, the Amenia Seminary, Ashland Collegiate Tastitute, New York Conference Seminary, and the Ciave- raok Institute. All of the above colleges are reported to be in a prosperous condition. It was proposed to erect a new builcing for the Wesicyan University. The fire when discovered was burning on the Uret floor, The flames spread with great rapidity to the apper floora, and in a ebort time the entire building wat on fire. The firemen were early at tbe premises and soon at work, but from the height cf the butiding, six stories, were unsble to get the master of the tire. Their efforts were then Girected to keeping back the flames from com- ‘munteating fire to the adjoining premises, Ia about two cours alter the fire broke out the building and contents were totaily destroyed.
