In addition to the difficulty growing out of the impri sopment of Santiago Constant, » British subject, by the pment of Paraguay, there is the other unsettled score of the sinking of the British merchant steamer Little Polly, in the waters of the river Parana, on July 11, ‘1868, by the Paraguayan war steamer Tacuari. This game steamer escorted Gen. Francisco Solano Lopes to this city on his embassy of mediation between the Oon- federation and Buenes Ayres. The peace being made, the General proceeded to return in the Tacuari, but there being a rumor that she would be captured by the British steamers in port, inquiry was made at the British Consu late, where no information could be obtained.
