SERIOUS PIRE IN WATER STREET—LOSS ABOUT $50,000. About four o’clock yesterday afternoon a fire broke out 4m the bottiing cellar of James Murphy, 107 Water street, *@wing to the combustible character of the materials in the cellar the fire spread with grent rapidity, and ina few momenta enveloped it in flames. The alarm of fire was promptly given, and the firemen quickly at the premises but in spite of their exertions the flames gained headway and extended into the first floor, and then throughout the -entire building. The fire was not extinguished until the whole peck the building were deatroyed. Mr. Mar- phy’s loes will be about $1,500; insured for $2,000.
