The police will do weil to arrest the fellow at their earliest opportunity, and thus put a stop to the “‘cutiing mania,” Tue Porren’s Fuuw iN Firtiery Sraxsr.—Workmen are now engaged in exhuming the bodies at the Potter’s Field in Fiftieth street, and Putting them in boxes, and in that manner they are conveyed to Ward’s Island for interment. The work was commenced last summer. It is supposed that there yet remains upwards of ten thousand bodies to be removed, A few days ago the body of man was ex- bumed in an exvellent state of preservation, with a full suit of clothes on and with a rope around bis neck, An old gentleman, residing pear the graveyard, stated that nearly twenty years ago a man committed suicide in that vicinity by hanging, avd after the body was cut down it was buried exactly in the condition it was found, This is probabiy the facts in the case. Tallmadge tendered his re- signation, which, it is understood, was accepted.
