[CONTINUED FROM FIBGT PAGE} whom I piace the utmost ovafidence—that Fargo mared bim he'had taken out an “unce per day from Dar. The news from the mines is of a very encouraging character, and con. sidering the very small number of miners at work, the Teturns must be regarded a8 large. There are not many more than six bundred miners at work on the Fraser river, aud wany companies are averaging $10 per day per man, Iv the space of @ fortn ght the yield was up- Wards of 00,000 Oonces, and the total shipments to San Francisgo by the steamers Pacitic and Northerner were upwards of 66,000, of which $45,000 were shipped by Wei, Fargo & Co. Present accounts from the apper Fraser country represent Uaat region as being bighly auriferous, the gold bemg of a coarre quality. ‘There is bo doubt that after # large body of miners shall have con- gregated on ube ground daring the ensaing summer, the yieio of gold will be something considerable, The Fraser Fiver wines resemble those of California in presenting an equal distribution of gold, and in this respect they differ materially from most of the Austratian mines, where the yield is Vory prolific, but is conflaed to particular epote; dad, cousequently, where mining partakes very much of the character of a lotery.
