At an Ecclesiastical Council convened in Rodman, N. Y. February 16, 1859, Mr. Quincy Blakely, a graduate of Duyn Theological Sem:nary, and licentiate of New York and Brooklyn Association, was ordained to the work of ‘the Gospe! ministry. INVITATIONS, The Dnitarian Society in Haverhill, Mass., has given a ‘unanimous invitation to Rev. W. T. Clarke to become its pastor, and be bas accepted the invitation. ‘The veetry of Trinity Church, in Parkersburg, Va., are pbout extending a call to Henry A. Wise, Jr., (son of Governor Wise,) to fill their vacant rectorship. Rev. Mr. Crozier has received a unanimous call from the Unitarian Church and Society in Marblehead, Mass. to become their pastor, at a salary of $1,300. Earl Dunham was ordaived and installed pastor ef ihe Presbyterian church in Clayvilie, N. Y., by the Presbytery of Utica, on Tuesday, the 16th inst, Rev. Jobn F: Mines was ordained and installed over Grace church, Broad Brook, Conn., on the 9th inst., Right . Bishop Williams officiating. RESIGNATIONS. Rev. Mr. Bolles, pastor of the Unitarian church, for- mer ly Dr. Clapp’s, in New Orleans, bas tendered his resig- ation. Rev. 8. Ilisley bas resigned the pastoral charge of the burch in Essex, Conn., tae resignation to take effect in Abe epring. DEATHS IN THE MINISTRY. The Rev. Thomas Baker, of the Methodist Episcopal ehorch in this city, died on Friday morning, after a very Drief illuess, aged fifty-nineyears. He has been for nearly Qirty years connected with the Methodist Book Concern. He preached on Sunday afternoon at Yorkville. Five Iinutes after the close of the services he was attacked with paralysi on the left side. He, however, oun re- covered and reached his residence nearly in his usual health. On Tuesday another attack came on, and before n00n on Friday he died. He was much esteemed. MISCELLANEOUS. When notice has been given that a collection will be Yaken up in achurch, says the Evangelist, on a particular Sabbath, some members are in the habit of running away frem their own to some other church on that day, t0 avoid ‘the pain of making a contribution; or, by # singular coin- eience, they are indisposed on that Sabbath, though they ‘ook remarkably well when they are seen at their accus- tomed haunts bright and early on the Monday morning following. Tre property formerly known as the Saviour’s church, of the Methodist Society, situate in First street, between First and Second avenues, was purchased at Sheriff's sale, en Feb. 1, for the Firat street Presbyterian church. ‘The members of the South Dutch church in this city have pledged themselves to the support of three mission- ‘aries in Japan; and we feel assured that from other churches our Board will soon receive liberal con- twibutions for the establishment of our mission in this most promising field.
