The Indian war in Oregon and Washington Territories haa been brought to a conclusion, The hostile savages have been completely subdued by the United States troops. They have sued for peace, after being overcome 1n three pitched dattles, which has been granted them on the most abject terms. Treaties have been made with the Spokans, Cour d'Alenes, the Pen d’Oreilles, the Cohilles, the Isle de Pierre, and other tribes. The conditions are, the men who commenced the attack are to be given up; a chief and four others to be given up from each tribe, to remain a year at Walla Walla as hostages for their good bebayior; all the public property taken from Col. Steptoe sto be returned; and white men are to pass through their country hereafter without molestation. The first conditions of the treaty have already been complied with, ‘The expedition under Col. Wright has avenged the de feat of Steptoe. Governor Weller has ordered the movements above stated to be made, as he found, after several applications to the United States military authorities, that they were withont power to render any assistanee.
