It will be remombored that some time during the month of May last a public meeting was held in this ety un eon- sequence of the discovery of a vessel having on board concealed slaves, The captain and crow were subjcctod to trial, and were all acquitted with the exception of the cook; but the vessel was condemned and sold. At tho meeting just spoken of, resolutions were passed of a throat- ening character against a Captain Willett Mott, who for two or three years past had boon a residont of this city, engaged in the ship chandlery business and tho recovery of wrecks.
