Recent intelligence is not calculated to in- duce the holders of stock in this company to increase their interest for the present. Among other events which are expected to happen, not the least momentous for the Pa- cifle m would be the establishment of a line of steam- ers, consisting of the three Collins boats, from Panama to Son Francisco, The market was tame between the boards, and almost all descriptions were rathor lower at the sccond board, with the exception of State stocks. These were again higher, Missouris touching 86, Californias 8574. The approaching Erie election not unnaturally suggests the propriety of a retrospective giance over the last year’s administration of that railroad. Mr. Moran's election, which tock place over a year ago, was a startling depar- ture from the settled practice in the railway world. He was to be paid a salary double the highest that is given to first claes managers of banks, railroads, factories, indus. trial or financial institutions; a salary twice and a half times as large as thatof his predecessor; nearly three times as great as that of a Grst claas foreign minister, and more than thrice as much as is paid to the Secretary of State. ile was to receive twenty-five thocsand dollare a year.
