At the first board this morning there was a alight rally from the low prises current yesterday. New York Cen- tral, Cleveland and Toledo and Michigan Southern were steady at the closing prices yesterday afternoon. Erie, Hudson River and Michigan Southern preferred, improved each . Reading was 3 better; Galena and Chicago %. Onicago and Rock Island was an except.on to the general market, and declined a quarter. In every tmstance the transactions were limited in amount, and the lots which changed bands small. After the board, the orders of the morning having been filled, the market grew duller, and in the street sales were made at a decline. At the the decline \ecame more decided. New York fell of *{; Brie, {; Hudson River, \; Michigan Southern, \; Reading, ; Galena, i; Chicago and Rock Island, 3{; Cleveland and Toledo, i. There was but little business done, fifty shares being sold ow where formerly five hundred changed hands. The market closed dull and heavy. The bond market waa dull. In the morning there were salee of a few thousand Louisianas, Missouri, Tennessees, Californias and Obios at the prices last quoted. The La Oroene and Milwaukie land grant bonds were in demand atl per cent advance. At private sale very few bonds were disposed of ; dealers complain that the demnad for investment has been checked, though no bonds or stocks are preesing on the market for sale. Money continues as before. The brokers are in some snstances borrowing at 314 and 4 in order to take up loans heretofore made st higher rates. First class paper is selling at 43; and 6, for short dates. Exchange ia very dull. Some parceis on London, drawn by a leading bank- ing house, sold this morning at 100'{; but the prinsipal bankers afterward put op their rate to 1093;. Mercantile exchange on London rules at 1084 a 108%.
