Hobert Brown.—This was an action for slander. The plaintiff complains that in June, 1867, in the city of Brooklyn, the defendant, ntend! ding to injure and defame him, said to one Spencer D.C. Van Bokkclen shat when Mr. Green loft the chy a 8 his (defendant's) brother's agent, to purchase certain mining lands, and that hie (defendant's) brother (Jamer E, Brown) furnished him with the funds to make saidpur- chase, and that Mr. Green had purchased the lands in his own name, and was endeavoring to hold the preperty for bis own benefit, and thus defraud his (de: fendant’s) brother.
