In Erie there was an active movement. The stock opened at 18§ per cent and closed at 193, cash. The sales sum up nearly three thousand shares. The President of the Erie Com- pany tales out with him in the Persia reports of an active demand in this market for the stock at tapidly improving prices. This may have some effect upon the purse strings of the Europeambond- holders and induce them to come forward and furnish the necessary facilities for carrying the road through. New York Central Railroad was not at all strong to- day. It opened at 753, cash, and closed at ‘744, bayor 30 days. The stock was not in demand, and closed heavy. In Reading there was more activity and prices improved on the opening. Nearly all the Western railroad stocks were operated in to some extent at previous prices.
