The advices ure highly interest- ing, and in a financial point of view particularly im- portant. The arrival of steamers from the United States was looked for in England with the greatest anxiety. The eflect of the advices up to the latest dates was full as great as anticipated. The move- ment of the Bank of England wus prompt and de- cided. The rate of interest was immediately ad- vanced to 8 per cent, and a further advance was ex- pected. It was the general impression that the Bank ot England would put the rate up to 10 per cent in the event of a suspension of the banks of the city of New York. They have before this the news ot our suspension, and we shall look with the greatest interest for the arrival of the Ariel or Arabia with the accounts of the effect in London. The Bank of France has raised the rate of interest to 74 per cent, the Dank of Hamburg to 9 percent. In Bremen the stringency was very severe, while in Vienna a slight improvement is reported. No new failures of unportance had been reported, either in Great Britain or on the Continent. Amidst the panic caused by the financial intelligence from the United States, the quotations for cousols show a pretty steady course of prices. The closing quotation was S84 per cent. In American securities a very mo- deraie business is reported, all at lower prices. in cotton there bas been no change. A dull market is reported, with prices in favor of buyers. Breadstufls remain without alteration, with a very moderate business. The accounts from the manu- facturing districts were much more favorable than anticipated. ‘the steamship Arago, from Southampton, brings 0,000 in specie. A list of the consignees will be found in the news columns. ‘Lhe amount of revenue collected in Boston from customs, during the month of October, 1857, was 4,474, against $682,591 for the same month last year, showing a decrease of $408,117 71. The circular of Mr. A. HU.
