SBortty after ten o’olook Councilman Van Tine, in oom- pany with Andrew Jackson, Eeq , made their appearance mt the City Ball, and immediately proceeded to the Mayor’s private office, where Mr. Van Tine introduced Mr. Jackson to the Mayor, and then ‘ef them fora few moments to enjoy s private consultation. One of our reporters yesterday called upon Andrew Jackson at the Metropolitan Hotel, and bad an interview with him relative to the disposition of the gold snuff bor, ‘and bis action in relation thereto, Mr. Jacksen was poliie ‘and cordial, and communicated with entire freedom al! ‘the facts upon the subject of the gold box. Tho box had Deca cherished by him as its custodian with great care and almost with veneration, in view of the purpose to which its brave pcasessor had consecrated it. He had kept it ucder lock and key, and only took it owt when curious friends called for ihe purpose of getting a rlew of it.
