The bank had reduced the rate of interest on a certain class of loans, and it is reported that a further reduction would acon be made. Full partioulars of the financial movements wil! be found in this day’s issue, and they are calculates to give confidence to the public mind this side of the Atlan- tle, and a great impetus to speculation. The only thing the bears have to rest their hopes upon, is the Crampton affair. That once dieposed of, there is nothing left fora a platform to stand upon. The shorts may be able to use that as bugbear for a few weeks longer, but it will all end in a more speedy adjustment of the questions at issue between the two countries. In less than thirty Gaya the Crampton affair will be sunk into oblivion, and if Mr. Crampton gets his deserts from his own govern- ment he will be dispored of in the same way.
