Interesting from Kansas. CONSTITUTION AND RITUAL OF THR GRAND ENCAMP- MENT AND REGIMENTS OF THE KANSAS LEGION, OF KANSAS TERRITORY. ADOPTRD aPRIL 4, 1805. ARTICLE 1, Section 1, This body shall be known as the Grand En- campment of the Kansas Legi n of Kansas Territory, and be composed of representatives elected from each Bubordinave regiment existing in the Territory, as herein- after provided. Sec. 2.§dt the first meeting nights in January and July, One representative from each subordinate regiment, one jitional representative for every fifty memburs, shall be elected as members of this Grand Body, the regi- ment having power to ill vacancies in case of the inability ‘of any delegate to attend any mesting of the irand Ku- campment; provided, that should any subordinate regi- nent be instituted between the times above specitied, that they may have the power to elect their representa: tives at such — will insure them a delegate to the Grand Encampment. Sec, 3. The regular sessions of the Grand Encampment Bhall be held on the third Wednesday of January and July, at such hour and place as shalt be selected by the Fneampment at the previous seiai-aunual session, ARTICLE 1, Sec. 1. The officers of the Grand Kncampment shat! consist of @ Grand General, Graud Vice-ieneral, Graad Quarter-Master, Grand aymaster, Gruad Aid, two Grand Sentinels and Grand Chaplain, to be elected wannally by Dallot at the January session, vith the exception of th» Sentinel and Chaplain, who shail be appoinied by the General for each meeting. He shall attend to such other business as may properly be required of him by virtue of his office. . 5. The Grand Paymaster shall have charge of all moneys belonging to the Grand Encampment. He shall attend to all receipts and disoursemeats. ARTICLE fi, Sec. 1. The Grand Encampment shall have power to es tablish such by-laws and rules for thelr own governmont as it shall deem necessary; make general provision for the punishment of offences ‘akan the laws of the Ur- Ger ;atry all appeals from ns of sudordinate regi- ments; and establish such constitutions for subordinate regiments under its jurisdiction as their welfare and good government may require; Provided, That the same be in accordance io the constitution and laws of the Grand bree Sec. 2. The Grand Encampment shall have power to a lax apes the subordinate regiments to defray the o Proper expenses of the Grand Encampment, by requiring of each subordinate regiment that they have two of our eaten books of rituals and constitu- tions, to be furnished at one dollar per copy, and a cuar- ter af fifty cents per copy; and if the above (ax is found insufficient to meet the ordinary expenses of the Grand Encampment, they may require of subordinates such other taxes as will meet the actual expenses incurred. Sec. 3. The Grand Encampment shail hare power to establish term pass-words to be communicated by the Grand General to the Colonel of each regiment. Sec. 4. The Grand Encampment shall make all nomina- tions for Territorial officers, at large, and immediately after such nominations shall have been made, the Grand General shall communicate the result to every regiment in the Territory. ARTICLE IY. Petitions for charters for subordinate regiments must be signed by at least five members of the order, addressed to the Grand General, and have the accompanying fee of two dollars and fifty cents exclosed, wnich will entitle them to the charter, book of rituals, constitutions, &e. ARTICLE Ve Five members shall constitute a quorum for doing busi- mess. ARTICLE Vi. Any proposed alteration of, or amendment to thiseonsti- ‘tution shall be submitted ty the Grand Encampment at Jeast one meeting before being acted upon, when, if two- thirds of the mewbers presenvat said regular weeting vowe for it, it shall be adopied. We, whose names are annexed, d2 hereby pledge our- selves to be governed by the tollowing Constitution: — ARTICLE 1. This orgunization shall be known as Regiment No. — ©! the Kamas Legion. ARTICLE 11. See 1. “Any Dereon can become a member of this Le- gon, who will pledge bunself favorable to the froelym of hansas, and is eighveen years of age. Persons being re- ceived under twenty-one years of age must be vouched for by three members. Sec. 2. Their right to vote, however, shall be confined exclusively to the regiment with which they are connected. ARTICLE I. \ Sec. 1.
