A Daring Robbery in the Public Street.—Yesterday afternoon, about one o’cfock, two young men of a des- rate character made a violent attack on the person of ristian Fetshner. a German, residing at Washington Valley, PlainGeld, New Jersey, robbing him of a port- monuaie containing a $5 bill ‘and about eighty cents in silver coin. It seems by the evidence of the complain- ant that he was walking quietly along Grand street, and when near Elizebeth street the two thieves pushed up it him, and inetanily he felt the hand of one of throm extract the portmonnaie from his vest pocket. On missing his money he called out, when one of the ras- als exclaimed, “What do you want?” and struck him a fevere blow in the face, which staggered him almost to * falling into the gutter. Some citizens witnessed the violence and ued the robbers. One of them took re- foge in the cellar of a porter house at the southeast eorner of Grand street and Bowery, Sergeant Hogan, of the reserved corps, happened to be near at hand, entered the porterhouse and secured the rogue, who gave his name Franels Coyle; the accomplice ran ‘up the Bowery audescaved. The prisoner was taken to the Tombs be- fore Justice Osborn, who committed him to prison for trial. The portmonnaie was recovered. Arrest of a House Trief—A German calling himself Louis Zimmerman entered the dwelling house No. 96 Duane street, undstole therefrom three coats and a la- dy’s dress, the property of Charles Leture. The accused wascarrying the property uncer his arm along Centre strect, when Officer Kinner, of the reserve corps, who is always on the look out for such rogues, arrested him on suspicion, and conducted him before the Chief of Police. N., murdered two Creeks—one named Menowa, who had, by order of Mr. Grayson, tied his “gee negro’s,) brother, whom Mr. G. had gold to a trader from Louisiana. Subsequently, by order of several ebiefs of the Creek Nation, he was condemned to be exe- euted according to the forms of the Creek law—aad, seated on a log, his head covered by a blanket, he re- ceived two rifle balls, and felldead.
