MONEY MARKET; Mowpay, Jan. 16—6 P.M. ‘There was a very irregular, umsettied market to-day. Bome of the fancies were up and some down. In some there wae considerable activity, while in others the trans. astions were limited. The European news has had no ef- Jeot upom prices, either of # favorable or unfavorable sharacter, At the first board Illinois Central Railroad ends declined 1 per cent; Florence and Keyport, ; @ana Construction Railroad, \; Michigan Central, \; Barlem, %. Canton Company went up ?; per cent; Nioa- yagua Transit, {; Erie Railroad, \. At the second Board there was no perceptible change in the market as far as prices were concerned. There was a better demand fer some of the coa! stocky. Nicaragua has not varied ‘ene per cent for many days, and the transactions have Deen quite heavy. The frst let-up in the market will wend some of the fanc'es forward with @ rush, and it may ome any moment. It will be very difficult to depress prices much lower, The market has been severely tried, ‘and weak holders pretty effectually oleaned out. The fancies generally are now in etrong hands, and the bears #e not make much impression upon them, The following sales of stocks were made at auction to. ay, after the adjournment of the board, by A.
