North River, to place a block on the outer end. on the line of the Thirteeath avenue or exterior city tin ; Mr. Bouton svid that Alderman Peck, who lives right by the pier in Thirtieth street. spoke to him about this matter, and the neceseity which existed for a protection tothe pier trom the ice which floatet down the river during the winter and spring. He was found lying near the dock, ina state of insensibility. by officers Watson and Fox. of the Third district, and conveyed to his house. The perpetrators had made their escape. Tue Kines County Boanp or Supervisors —The an- nual meeting of the Board took place on Tuesday, at the county jail, amd was organized by the selection of Dr. A. J. Say il chairman, and Charles B. Buike- ly. clerk, for the ensuing year. A siatement con- taining an account of all the fees received by the Surro- gate of Kings county during the past year, was submitted, by which it appears that $5.232 97 isthe sum total. The | communication was directed to be placed on file Alder- | man Spinola submitted the opinion of H. C, Murphy, Esq.. in relation to the proposed site fora lunatic asylum at Flatlands. as to whether the title of the property can be conveyed under the will of Susan Caton (the original owner). 80 as to vest the same in the county in fee. clear of all incumbrances ; and the opinion is that it can- not be so conveyed A motion was made to refor the title to other counsel, which was lost. and the opinion was placed on file. A communication was received from Philip L. Crooke. Esq. in relation to the above opinion, stating that Mr Murphy had previoualy placed reliance upon the title of said property. in his connection with the Brooklyn and Nassau Insurance companies, The com- munication was also filed; after which a motion was adopted. that the Committee on the Lunatic Asylum (when appointed) be directed to select a new site for the proposed County Lunatic Asylum. Crmisry’s Opera House —Christy's Minstrels are, as is always the case. attracting and delighting full honses, Their choruses are given with great harmony. and their instrumental performances executed with strict preci- sion. Bracon ar Bomnay Hannon ~Commodore’s Ofive, Bombay, May 19—It is hereby intimated that the beacon on the isiand of Kennery, situate at the entrance of Bombay Harbor, the completion of which was made known by a noti- fication published in the “Bombay Government (azotte,” and dated April 3, 1851, having been partinily destroyed by the heavy rains of the monsoon, was taken down. A now beacon since been commenced, sufficiently advanced towards completion as ‘to be visible to veasels approaching the harbor, and it is expected will be entirely fluished by the Ist of June next. ‘The new beacon is of @ cylindrical form, and rises to the Leight of 70 feet above the foundation. ‘The beacon is printed black, and can b of 16 miles on a clear day.
