Ribbons are scarce, and wanted, at higher rates. "Black silks aro the only article in large supply, and these are held more firmly. Dress goods are not plenty, Baroges are in large stock in second hands, but considerably dispersed. Prints and dalaines no longer offer. ‘There is a supply of narrow tricolored French silks on the market. all held by one house, which are selling briskly. at the low price of 42\c. —an immense reduction from cost. ‘They are 90 inches wide. in three broad stripes, blue, white, and red, woven into each other. These silks are boiled. and of exquisite color and fabric. They were made by order, and for account of the revolutionary government of France, under Lamartine, but failed to be wanted, and have been sent over here in considerable quantity The stock of British goods ix light. Woollens of the heavy desorip- tions are selling to clothiers, but other kinds are dull, the demand for dress goods being over for the season. Prices are very steady. Goods are advancing in price, at home and abroud, and it is generally expected the fall season will open at a considerable improvement. Imports are yet light, but will be heavy in the fall.
