We venture to my that the “locofoco rowdies and bullies” have very little to do with the primary elections of the whigs. It is the whig bullies that do the business; and the Seward organ is probably more atraid of the whigs than of the locofocos. There is evident alarm that Fillmore and Webster may prove too strong in Now York city for General Scott; nor should we be surprised if the late Fillmore and Wobster protracted meetings were to result in a coalition against the Scott men in the election of delegates to tho Whig National Convontion. ‘They may also result in the eloction of delegates from this city opposed to Scott; and it may possibly hap- pen that the delegation from this city will have the power of turning the scale one way or the other at Baltimore. Tho orisis draws nigh. Look out for the whig primary elections of Thursday next. Hot work may be expected. Tue Art Union prrons tHe Jupers.—It will be seen from our reports that the argument upon the constitutionality and legality of the Art Union, as a lottery, has been up before the Su- preme Court in this city, and a dovision may bo expected in the course of a week or ten days. If that decision should be against the legality of tho institution, it closes the whole concern, and eonfis- cates the property—amounting probably to $100,000 —to the State. Ifthe decision should be otherwise, however, the question will be carried up to the Court of Appeals by the District Attorney. But the suit of the District Attorney is not the only proces to which the Art Union is subject. In our case against that institution, Judge Duer, it is true, de- cided against the injunction; but we have yet aright, on demurrer, to carry some other points before a higher tribunal; and if the District Attorney should abandon the case, it will be necossary to carry it bo- fore the Court of Appeals ourselves, for a final deter- mination as to its illogality or unconstitutionality, by reason of its being a lottery, Broapway.—It is absurd to suppose that a tem of casual cleaning is all that is sufficient for the decent keeping of Broadway.
