The total whig delegation is ninety A resotution was offered by Mr Haven, of New York, acquiescing in the Compromiss measures, almost in the same language as used by the President im his last an- pual message. Mesers, Stevens, of Pennsylvania, and Fowler, of Massachusetts after much opposition, retired from the eauens. ‘The resolution was put and carried, with two dissen- tient votes. The whigs do not intend to yote for Boyd, for Speak- er, but to play off and try their chance of getting some one of their friends. They have got to windward of the democrats, and the greatest unanimity prevails amongst them, ‘The estimates of expenditures for the fiscal year end_ ing June 3¢, 1863, ere $42,802,269 19. Of this amount there is estimated, for the support of our newly acquired territories, $0,549,101 11. This leaves the balance of $33,343.198 08, which brings the estimates 40D to those of 1845. This does not include the interest to be paid om the Texas debt, end it will also requirea 1\Fge appropriation to meet the claims of Mexico for In- a'en depredations, and the French reclamations for ille- gal seizures in California. ‘The Navy Department estimates amount to $8,540,605 08. Of this, deduct, for special objects, $2,684,220 80; leav- ing for support of navy and marine corps, $6,866,472 18 ‘The estimates for the navy support proper are less than lest year; whilst the sum ‘or special obj ecta, vis. : addi_ tional pay for a larger Pacific mail service by act of Congress, the completion of the California ary dock, kc. exceeds last year’s estimates by about $600,000. ‘The Postmaster General recommends a large increas to the Atlantic mail service. x. ¥. 2. THE DEMOCRATS, WHIGS, AND UNIONIST3—MORE CAUCUSES TO BE HELD—@EN. YOOTE’S KOSSUTH RESOLUTION, ETC. Warnixeron, Deo, 1, 1851. ‘The resolution making the democratic creed @ cheer- fel acquiescence in the compromises was rejected on Baturday night by the democratic caucus, bat was sub- *tantially adopted in the whig caucus this morning. ‘The Southern Union party are rather anxious to join the democrats, but the latter are not quite ready to excom- municate the Southern ultras, who were always demo- crate, for the benefit of the Union whigs, whe wish to be onthe strong side. But the resolution endorsing the compromises, and almost unanimously adopted by sixty whigs in caucus, means something. It was a desperate effort te prevent the Southern whigs from going over to the democracy in the lump, The end is not yet. A democratic Semate caucus, this morning, appointed ® committee of seven to arrange standing committees, Mr. Bright, of Indiana, was chairman. On Wednesday there will be another Senate caucus on the question of electing a now set of officers, It will be surprising if the old set escape the assaults of demo” cratic outsiders. Gen, Foote’s resolution, providing joint committee of Congress to wait om Kossuth, was offered at the in. stance of Mr. Webster. Ww.
