Cocuxcrox, Nov. 15, 1851 A dreadful accident occurred here yesterday, on the Erie Railroad. As Dr. Apley, of this place, was stepping som one car to another, he was thrown under the wheels, and had one of his legs and ankles horribly mashed. Physicians were immediately called in to at- tend the sufferer. A consultation was held, and it was decided that amputation was necessary. Dr Sanger of Honerdale. We are calied upon to record the decease of another of our most eminent physicians—making four of the dical profession, within a few days, who have departed this life—vis., Doctors Rodgers, Patti- sop, Maaly, and the subjeet of this notice. The death of Dr. DeKay took place at his residenee, at Oyster Bay, Long Island, on Saturday the 2ith inst. He bad been in delicate health for several years, which has prevented a cloge application recently to his favorite studies in natural history. In that branch of science he had acquired distinction, and was the author of two volumes ofthe Natural History ef New York, relative to its ornitho- logy.
