Buity fund. $700,000 have been taken by capitalists. savings banks, inrurance and trust companies. ‘The Treasurer of the U.# mint, Philadelphia, gives the annexed statement of deposits received aud paid, oe coinage executed, during the weal, , ending Saturday, jow 16th :— Deposits, ‘Goes Payments. e018 satan!) guarazes — saga4724 Bilver. 1 14.753 6,243 Total...... $321,503 $1,387,501 $2,029 967 From the above statement it will be seem that the f@mount paid on certificates of deposit exseeds the amount coined, by $642,466; which is mainly owing to the existing arrangement with the bub-treasury, by which depositors receive coin as soon as the assay is ecmpleted. ‘The Vermont Central Railroad Company are in the market for s large loan, Two millions of dollars are Tequired to relieve the company from the embarrass ments surrounding them. It is proposed to issue bonds for two millions of dollare, bearing seven per cent inte- rent, secured by a mortgege on the entire property of the company, placed in the hands of trustees, payable in ten yeare from the lst of November, 1851. The proceeds of the sale of these bonds are to be applied to the liquidation of the liabilities of the company, The Vermont Central Rail- road is one hundred and seventeen miles long, and has cost seven millions of dollars, The receipts of the road 4 1660, were $287,093. The receipts for the present year, up to October Ist. were $442654 In September, thir year, the earnings were $62,135 81. The interest on the debt of California, due in January, will be paid promptly at maturity. According to the jStest official returns, the public debt of California was as annexed:— Finances oF Cativonxia—Pusiic Dear. ‘Three per cont bonds outstanding. ++ $165,000 00 Tnterert im fuil. due on bonds. 76,976 4. Fonded bonds issued. seeee + 826,000 0 Interest due on same seveee 888 Comptroller's warrants outstanding. 145,203 6 ‘Total +o $712,268 84 ‘The debt of the State outstanding on the Ist of Ma last was authcrized to be funded, by converting the warrants into bonds, payable in 1857 and 1861, the in terest to be paid semi-annually in New York, and im the Treasurer's office, San Francisco, at the op tion of the bolder. Of this debt it will be seen that there has been funded three hundred and tweaty six theurand dollars, The funded bonds bear an interes of seven per cent, payable semi annually, January and July. Compared with the resources of California, the present debt isa mere bagatelle, and there is mo doubt but that all of the eogagements of the treasury will be punctually paid. The population of that State at pre- sent numbers one hundred and fifty thousand, and is steadily increasing. The State has large claims against the government of the United States, which will be made s cubject for legislation hereafter. In the event of a re- covery of these claims, the debt of the State can be easily liquidated without resorting to any special taxation for thet As soon as the financial affairs of the State are placed upon a more permanent basis, the bonds ‘will doubtless command better prices in the market ‘There is now a on want of confidence among capi- E azizeeet ae i+ fice SkeeselSEks eFetesteFe.czs¥: POST OFFICE NOTICE.
