The present cost of this road is about $4 300,000, upon which it pays semi annually a | dividend of five per cent. Should its receipts from Aug. Ist, 1851, to Feb. Ist, 1852, average but $100,000 per month, and its expenses and disbursements amount to that of the six months previous, which was $194,254 86, it will make a surplus profit, after paying a dividend on the 1st of February, cf five per cent, of $190,735 14 ‘There were entered at the Baltimore Cus\om House dur- ing the month of October, forty-eight vessels from foreign ports, viz, :—ten ships, eleven barks, nineteen brigs,and tea schooners, of which number thirty-five had cargoes sub- ject to duty, eleven had free cargoes, and two were in ballast. The value of the exports, for the month of October, was $676,257 07. The receipts from duties at the Baltimore Custom House, during the month of October. 1860, were $74,370 (4, and for Ootober, 1851, $97,819 42--showing an in crease in October, 1851, of $23,449 38.
