It will be seen that the amount of specie on hand inthe banks of Baltimore was $28,266 more than the circulation. The discounts exceed the capital $4,682,730. The earnings of the Rutland and Burlington Rail- rosd Company for the six months ending December 81, 1860, after deducting ameunts paid and due all connecting rcads, were $155,300 91. Expenses during seme period, $51,25510. Balance $104,045 81, being t earnings for s'x months. Calculating the earn- inge of an entire year upon this basis, and it will give sea result six per centon the bonded and floating debt, eight percent on the preferred stock, and six | per cent on the common stock, at the present market ice, say $60 per share, When it is considered that the business of the past six months has been inter- rupted by almost unexampled fre in Vermont, causing heavy losses and great delays, the above re- sult shows exceedingly well for a road which {a yet in the infancy of its developement. The receipts of the | present year will be largely increased by the Ogdens- burgh and Vermont and Canada roads, in the business of which the Rutland will participate, with its fourish- ing neighbor, the Vermont Central.
