Whe Debut of Parodi Philadelphia, (From the Pbiladeipnis Laquirer. Not a square inch of space in the theatre was vacant, and euch a sea of heads, such a dazzling array of a aod joy- ous fecee, as awuited the entrée of the distinguished singer a2, she alighted trom her goadola, might weil have caused the debutante some tremors of embarrassment, at the sime time ttinspired her with feelings of unbouuded gratiticatioa und pride. As she approached, her face concealed beneath the mark, she was greeted with a hearty burst of applause, and expectation was on tiptoe to leara whether the fame that had preceded her was de- served or fictiuous. It was not long until the pre- sence and the performance of the great cantatrice had satisfied al! that her powers had not been over- rated, and ufter the close of the first act, she wae twice called before the curtain amid a storm of bravos and cheers. The charm of her full, round end delicious voice, and the iatensity of her | acy acting, increased and aceumulated as the rama proceeded. The famous trio with the Duke end Gennuro, in the third act, was rapturousiy encored. Inthe scene which immediately follows, with Genaro, the intense and all-pervadiog ia- terest it excited, stilled the voice of applause, and the attention of the immense audience seemed, 4s With one mind wnd heart, to be riveted upon the Borgia and her itl-starred son, as if the whole were a vivid reality. Then it was that the genius of the queen of the lyric drama could be fully felt and appreciated; but a still more etartiing scene was in waiting. It was ia the lest act, that she display- ed to perfection her wonderful gifts of soul aad song, When carrying away, os if with an irresistible torrent, the feelings of her auditory, ehe swayed all hearts at will, and wrought an absorbing climex to ber glorious performances. Wonder and admiration still enchained the multitude of hearers es she swept through the final cab: (which no ordinary artist dares to attempt), thrill of deep emotion pervaded all ns the rare apec- tucle elosed with the death of the Borgia. {From the Pennsylvenian.
