THE SEWARDITES DENOUNCED. Very Interesting Proceedings in the Georgia Convention. &o., dc, &o. | Letter from Gerrit Smith to his Abelition Co-labore: Perexnonovon,N ¥ , Deo, 12, 1660, Gerrit Bmith has issued @ ciroular to the abolition party, for thejpurpoee of having them reorganized and | prepared for the coming campaign. He says, tie: ry great many good men, that do not vote, who would go with the abolition party if it was reorganized in a proper form. He claims that the great politica! party | are not religious--their code of morals, if they nave any, is very loose-.that the civil government ie al! mocnrbine--that the creed of the abolitionist is laid down in the bible. and mast be richt--that the whig and democratic parties have driven the fugitives to | the wilds snows of Canada, as the hunter does the game to its lair, He says, that the object of the liberty party is to establish a righteous civil government, and they prefer to be put in the hands of christians, not po- litical demagogues. He claims that as an evidence, that | civil governments are all counterfeits. That they will | not let both the male and female vote for the civic affaire | of the government; that the liberty party is unlike the other great political parties of the country; thet | they would not acknowledye the right of the South t the negro babies! He says, that the late election | proves the necessity of the re-organization of the li Derty party, and that they should have moze newsps pers, and that every man should have Spooner’s books on the Unconstitutionality of Slavery, anda Defence sor the Fugitive. With » thorough knowledge of those books, they could beat Daniel Webster and J. McLean, im any argument on the slavery question. He says, that the free soll party has been the killing of the liberty party -that it was a humbag—that the members of that party were after the © loaves and fishes’ and that they have not more morality than the other political parties, Iehopes that the libecty party will be, im point of numbers what it ought to be by the | mext Presidential election; aol that all of thore who went for Van Buren will come back and bring large additions to their troops. The nomination of attractive men by the whig aad d»mocratic parties, could at apy time draw away the force of the liberty party. The liberty party was indispensable, while the great vational parties, as they call themselves, pride themrelves on being pro-slavery parties. This the liberty party would not do. The contests between the Sewardites, nationals, bunkers sud barnburners are all for gain; and he regards the Sewardites asa mere faction of the whig party. He says the Sewardites pride themselves on their anti-slavery ddctrines, but they would not form co- partnerships with sbeep or horse thieves; but they will do so with many other kinds of thieves. He that he learns with great satisfaction | of the increase of the liberty party im Indians, Ohie and Wisconsin, but he thinks the chances bad in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and in poor tariff New England; but he will have hopes in New England when | he sees the Adan Phillips, Jacksons, J.
