Payment fromthe Dutch Loan, Mr. (lay presented a curious memorial to the Senate this morning- # memorial of several hundred pages of closely written matter, the substance of which is that Mr W A Seeley. of New York, having devoted three years’ eervices to the Dutch government, for the reoo- very of the jewels of the Princess of Orange, stolen twenty years ago, and baviog recovered said jewels under promises of good pay. and having failed in all his applications for compensation upon the said go- vyerpment, appeals to Congress to retain his compensa tion from the annual interest on the Dutch loan, This loan was coutracted by this district ten years ago, for purposes of internal improvements, has since been as sumed by Congress, and the ennual ioterest of some $260,000 constitutes & regular item of the sunual ap. propriations Op the 20th Sept., 1829. the place of Lacken, at Brus sels (the residepes of the Prinee and Princess of Orange, the former a son of the King of Holland, and the latter « eirter of the Emperor Nicholas, of Rurtia) was entered into. in the absence of the royal family, and jewels, chiefly belonging to the Pringess, abstracted, to the amoust of @ million of dollars in value.
