Bince the last biennial ,eport from the Treasury De- partment, of the rtate of the?public sebt, its smount has been imereased by the em‘ssioa of $307,222 22, in bonds, under acts of the last General Assembly, and reduced by the payuient, in 1898, of $72,625 61 (the rempant of the debt due Reid, Irving & Co., of London), and the redemption, in 1849, of $75,000 of the federal bouds. ‘The additioval sum of $1000 is deducted from the amount heretofore reported - bonds to that amoant having been ascertained to have been, some years since, returced to the Executive department and cancelled, without a corresponding entry oo the register, Toh: aggregate is now, it will be seen, $1,828,472 22.
