A terrible riot, or series of riots, occurred in Philadelphia on Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning, the particulars of which, and their melan- eholy results, are given below in the letter of our eorrespondent, and extracts from the Philadelphia papers. Tho elcction yesterday will long be remembered as ‘the prelude merely to one of the bloodiest riots that ever dirgraced an American city.
