It will cost when completed, less than one half that of the river road, and it can therefore afford to transport freight and passeugers at more reasonable rates. The principal business of this company will be with the New England States, as it will be the only road entering this city immediately connecting with that important section of the country, and that mo- monopoly will remain in the possession of this company. Notwithstanding the unfavorable complexion of the re- cent report of this company, the stockholders certainly bave cause to congratulate themselves upon the favor able prospect before them; and we trust those who have through good and through evil report, preserved their fwith in the value of the stock, will soon be rewarded with good dividends. The receipts of the Little Miami railroad for the month of July, were $18,709.99 of which $7 141,33 were from freight, and $11,563,66 from passengers, The amount received ‘for tolls at Buffalo, Rochester, and Oswego during the second week in August, shows an focrease, compared with the corresponding period of 1846, of $18,475 48, being upwards of 76 per cent.
