There was $20,000 insured on this property; $16,000 at the Etna Otlice, Harttord, and the balance at the Mutual, Worchester. The factory and machinery cost $70,000.—Boston Mail, Jan. 30. Fire at Boston, N.Y.—Mr. Andre, P. M. at Bos- ton, Erie co,, writes that a fire broke out there in the store occupied by B. Frost. ‘The store and goods entirely de- stroyed, together with two small buildings adjoining.— One occupied by Porter F. Glazier, as a shoemaker’s shop ; the other belonging to Clark M. Carr. Loss be- tween $3000 and $4000. The goods insured—no insur- ance on the building. Owned by Stephen Needham, Destructive Fire iy Reapinc.—Wel learn from Reading that a destructive fire occurred there last ‘Tuesday, which broke out in the back shop of F. Fox's chair manufactory, and extended to the building in front, which, together with the shop, its tools and materials, was entirely destreyed. Some elegant brick buildings, rec: ted by Dr. Bischoff, next caught, two of which fell a prey to the flames, andthe others were badly burnt and other- wise injured. 1n attempting to rescue some of the furni- ture, the ceiling of theroom gave way and seriously in. jured J, V. Lambert; and auother person leaped out of the second story window ; both were badly scorched. An old lady, Mrs. Lott, fell down stairs at the first alarm of fire, and broke her leg. ‘The loss will be covered by in- surance, as respects the buildings. Fire ar Newsure.—The woollen factory at the new mills occupied by Messrs. Colgan & Co. was destroy~ ed by fire on Tuesday morning last. Insurance had been effected on the building, but not upon its contents. Esti mated loss $5000 to $8000. Arrempren Svicror.—A young female from Lancaster, (who had been decoyed from that city, and then abandoned, by an individual whose name we suppress at present,) attempted on Monday night to com- mit suicide by taking laudanum. She swallowed near 24 ounces, but Dr. M‘Closkey was called in, and by the aid of emetics, succeeded in preventing fatal consequences. She is of a respectable family in Lancaster county, and is now outof danger. She is about twenty years of age.— Phila, Ings, Jan. 31 ; nim. Con.—Mons. Their, the violinist, who as- sisted at De Begnis’ concerts in this city, last fall, has been committed to prison by an order from the F’ irat Judge, upon the complaint of Mr. Noah, husband of the leadin actress at the theatre, for alleged illegal intercourse with his wife.
