Preleeens Mary Chi A Card, G+ It may be recollected that in the month of July last, a card was forced from me by a false and calumnious article, published by Webb in the Courier and Enquirer, derogatory to the integrity and honor of myself and family. I then evowed the determination, to which I still adhere, not to be drawn into a newspaper controversy with that person; and referred all who might deem the matter of suiticient interest, to the examination then about to take place before the Surrogate in the matter of the last will of my late uncle, Robert Stewart. After an investigation of five months, during which J. 'W }Webb has had an fabundant opportunity to prove, if possible, his base assertions, the question has been de- cided by the Surrogate, and the will admitted to probate: In order to prevent any pretence/of misstatement or sup” pression of evidence, a certified copy of the testimony taken before the Surrogate, with the proceedings thereon, will be printed without delay, and laid before the public, to whose candid and impartial judgment I will cheerfully submit the whole matter, Feeling that this subject is exclusively of a private and famlly nature, which ought never to have been obtruded upon the public, I am most reluctantly compelled to pre, sent facts, necessary to the vindication of my own motives and honor and those of individuals most nearly allied to mo ; but the bold assertions, garbled statements and gross falsehoods published by J. W. Webb, leave me no alter- native. I beg leave to invite attention to a simple fact : My five sisters, and three of my four brothers-in-law, being the whole of the next of kin, and representatives of my Jate father, approve of the will of my uncle, and sustain my course in reference to it, and have throughout ex- tended to me their entire confidence and free support. J Watson Webb alone opposes, denounces, and calum- niates. Felix Gouraud’s Poudre Subtile—The still increasing st ity and extensive sale of these celebrated Powders for the sale; xpeedy and permanent eradication of super- fiuous hair, bas kindled the avarice and malignity of a set of counterfeiters, who re tasked their wicked inge- nuity to palm off surreptitiously their pernicious imita- tions.
